First of all, HUGE apologies for not blogging much recently, I'm in the process of moving back to England, and as I expected, it's hectic. Boxes everywhere, I hate living in mess and it's proving to be more difficult than expected living out of a suitcase. When I'm back in England (this Thursday) and all unpacked expect DAILY POSTS... now, on with the show...
As a huge fan of English television, I love the Baftas. It's not quite got the gitz and the glamour of say the Oscars or maybe the Billboards (maybe because it's sponsored by Phillips...), but it brings all who make English TV brilliant together and shows off the best in the business.
I could talk all day as to who should have won, who I'm glad one, who I don't really care about etc, but this is a fashion blog so I'll focus on the outfits. Let's the who rocked it on the Red Carpet, and who seriously flopped it.
Jaime Winstone looked gorgeous in Alexander McQueen, holding a Marilyn Monroe based look- it was elegant but was still fun and slightly youthful. Kate Winslet looked effortless and minimalistic in Stella Mccartney and Trudi Styler looked glam in Victoria Beckham. As much as Kate and Trudi's outfit were slightly on the safe side, they still looked presentable and fitted right into the occasion.
Now for my not so shining stars...
Audrey Tautou looked like she was modelling paper in Lanvin, Anna Kendrick's dress look like it just sat on her in Pucci, Kimberly Walsh was definitely trying to rock the ostrich bejewelled image... it didn't work) and public enemy of awkwardness number one, Kirsten Steward looked, well awkward in Chanel. This feels criminal saying this but I thought Kirsten just looked tacky, she might have been in Chanel and the right person probably would have pulled it off, she however, didn't.
Now, a special little tribute to my favourite TV program, The Only Way Is Essex, yes it's tacky and yes it's cheap, but I can't help but love it. I'm thrilled that they won a Bafta this year and they certainly knew how to liven up the party while on stage, it was pure comedy gold watching the upper class snobs look down their noses at the TOWIE cast as they received the award.
Amy Childs looks like she took some inspiration from her competitors for the award, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding... with a Beauty And The Beast twist? It was nice, different... it certainly spiced things up a bit.
Lauren Goodger looked dazzling in silver next to gorgeous finance Mark Wright, in a sequinned backless dress, she showed off her amazing curves beautifully!
Lydia Bright and (boyfriend?! does anyone know?) James Sargent looked like the perfect couple. Lyd's come on leaps and bounds since her first appearance on TOWIE, she even said herself 'I looked like a drag queen!' yes honey, you did, but look at you now! You can't expect anything subtle from this crowd and you just have to like it or lump it, I for one love it!
The TOWIE girls with the BAFTA award, Sam Faiers looked chic in her simple white gown, a first for one of these lot, but her dress did look slightly understated next to the MGFGW/Beauty & The Beast masterpiece sported by Amy...
Nanny Pat must of got a bit bored halfway through the awards and thought she'd have a quick flick through a mag... she looked so cute in her little orange dress, probably taking influence from Amy's tan.
Congratulations TOWIE ;)
